ARTIST STATEMENT

Through floral and silhouette imagery, I explore the peculiarities of plants within my artistic practice. My work demonstrates an admiration for the intricacies of floral forms, as well as a curiosity of what happens when these forms are reduced to mere shape. The contrast that is created between detail and obscurity generates a striking image intended to entice the viewer to visually engage with the work.

I am intrigued by the idea of visual escapism, and intentionally use a dark background to house the floral forms within my paintings. This darkness arguably creates a sense of containment to the works, allowing the viewer to get fully immersed in the vibrant colour and detail presented to them.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I completed my BA in Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts, Canterbury in 2023. Since graduating, I have exhibited my work both locally in Kent and in other areas of England. Most notably, in February 2025, my work was selected for the “Female Artists of Tomorrow” exhibition at The Hari in London, which sought to “showcase an exceptional new collection of work by emerging female art graduates”. Following my time in higher education, I continue to cultivate my art practice from home and enjoy getting involved in my local art community.
